Pilates Spring Training

Spring is the time of year summer athletes use to train and condition their bodies for their sport. Think of the baseball teams heading to Florida before the season starts for their annual Spring Training.

 

In Pilates, we also have Spring Training - but we do it year round. When using spring-loaded apparatus, we are strengthening our muscles as we pull on a spring to stretch it open, and we are engaging in resistance work as we control the closing of the spring.

 

Muscles work in 3 ways: they shorten, they lengthen and they resist. Incorporating spring work into your training ensures your muscles are worked all 3 ways. And not only is the limb that's stretching the sping getting a good workout, the entire Powerhouse (the trunk, hips and inner thighs) is as well.

 

What could be more functional, cost-effective and time efficient than this?
