I am off to New York City from November 11-17 to train with Brooke Siler, who in turn trained with the late and great Romana Kryzanowska (for those of you who do not recognize this name which is famous in the Pilates world, she was originally a dancer, and the protege of Joseph Pilates himself for 30 years).
Brooke is a sought-after Instructor/Educator/Studio Owner/Published Author (she wrote the bestseller The Pilates Body and more recently The Women's Health Big Book of Pilates) and celebrity trainer (actors Kirsten Dunst and Amber Valetta are among her clients).
As I seek to bridge my certification to the authentic or classical method of Pilates, it is Brooke and her program at re:AB that will lead the way. I can barely contain my excitement. A client recently joked to me "Don't go moving to New York now!". My answer was "I'm not leaving for New York; I'm bringing New York Pilates to Toronto!".
And so I embark on a journey with one of the Classical Pilates greats in the Bright Lights and Big City that is New York, ready to learn and pass on what I learn, to be inspired and in turn inspire others. In the words of Sinatra: "If I can make it there, I'll make it anywhere!"
